IT support & advice

Your cat can
cause chaos.
Your IT shouldn’t.

A tidy network. Access to your files. A proper backup plan. I set up networks, Windows PCs, VPNs and UniFi hardware, so you can get on with using your technology.

How I can help

IT support that makes
everyday life easier.

Buying a new computer is the easy part. Getting your files, access and devices working together takes a plan. I can help with both the advice and the setup.

A little side quest: can you spot our ginger cat in the illustrations? The technology is in good hands.

NETWORKS

Networks & file servers

One shared set of files, rather than copies scattered across devices. I install and administer local networks and file servers with central storage, including for mixed operating systems.

  • Central file storage
  • Appropriate access permissions

DESKTOP COMPUTING

Windows PCs

A workstation is only ready when you can actually work on it. I set up your Windows PCs, the software and connected devices you need, and access to your network resources.

  • Software and devices set up
  • Access to network resources

REMOTE ACCESS

VPNs & remote working

Work from home without emailing important files back and forth. I set up VPN access so you can reach your own network and data over an encrypted connection.

  • An encrypted connection
  • Access tailored to your needs
Plan your VPN setup

DATA BACKUP

Backup & recovery

A backup earns its keep when you can restore your files. I plan and configure backups around the way you work, and check the recovery process with you.

  • Plan the backup process
  • Check that recovery works
Discuss your backups

UNIFI

UniFi hardware

Wi-Fi, firewalls and cameras need to suit your space. I configure UniFi hardware and tailor network settings, access and IP cameras to your existing equipment and requirements.

  • Wi-Fi, firewalls and IP cameras
Discuss your UniFi setup

AT HOME

Home technology setup

The new router has arrived. So has the printer. Now they need to work. I set up everyday home technology and help your devices work together.

Practical IT, thoughtfully planned

One person to talk to.
A clear plan.

You don’t need the technical vocabulary or a shopping list. We’ll start with what you need your technology to do, then agree on the scope and approach before the work begins.

For your business ↗

Shared files, connected workstations and clearly defined access permissions. A practical IT foundation for your team.

For working from home ↗

Get your workstation set up and use a VPN to access your own network when you’re away from the office.

For your home ↗

Connect your Wi-Fi, computers, printers and other devices, with help choosing the right equipment and getting it working.

Good reasons to get started

Sound
familiar?

“Which file is the latest version?”

Your team uses several computers and keeps ending up with different versions. Central file storage can bring things together.

Explore file storage

“My files are at the office. I’m at home.”

You need access to your own network from elsewhere. We’ll work out how a VPN could fit your setup.

Explore VPN access

“The backup runs. But can I restore it?”

We’ll look at both backup and recovery, turning a good intention into a process you understand.

How we’ll get there

Understand first. Set up second.

LET’S TALK

What do you need your IT to do?

Tell me what you have in mind. We’ll look at your current equipment, how you work and what you want to achieve.

MAKE A PLAN

Work out the right approach.

We’ll agree on the scope and next steps. I’ll explain what needs doing and which equipment makes sense.

PUT IT IN PLACE

Set up, check and hand over.

I’ll carry out the agreed work, check that everything functions and show you how to use your setup.

Good to know

Your questions.
Straight answers.

Can I keep using my existing equipment?

We’ll assess it against your needs and the condition of the equipment. Before you buy anything new, we’ll see what’s worth keeping.

Can different operating systems share a central file server?

Yes. A file server can be configured for a mixed environment. The right file shares, permissions and protocols depend on the systems you use.

Is a VPN worthwhile for just one remote worker?

It can be, if you need protected access to your own network from a single home workstation. We’ll work out whether it’s the right option for you.

How are the scope and cost agreed?

Once you’ve outlined what you need, we’ll discuss the likely scope and approach. Pricing and timing are agreed individually.

Is syncing my files the same as backing them up?

Syncing keeps files in step across devices, but it can also copy accidental deletions. A backup keeps additional recovery points. What matters is being able to restore the files you need.

What does a VPN protect, and what doesn’t it do?

A VPN encrypts the connection to your own network. You still need updates, secure login credentials and backups. Planning the setup also means deciding which resources and permissions each user needs.

Do I need to know which equipment to buy?

No. Start by explaining what you want to achieve and what equipment you already have. We’ll work out the right setup and whether you need anything else.

Where do you provide IT support?

On-site support is available in Berlin and Brandenburg, with remote support worldwide. We’ll discuss which parts of your request can be handled remotely.

Let’s get started

What could work
better for you?

You don’t need to know the solution to describe the problem. Tell me what equipment you use, what isn’t working or what you’d like to set up. We’ll work through the technical side together.
